Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar.

Traveler, there is no road; you make your own path as you walk.

No one is broken.

We meet each individual where they are, employing a respectful, strengths-based approach to therapy. Our goal is never to “fix”, but instead to bring comfort and support to those who experience the world differently.

 Our Mission

The therapists at ITTS for Children are wholly committed to the DIRFloortime® model of intervention. This framework is based on the understanding that each individual and the circumstances surrounding them are unique. We respect and honor the individual and meet them where they are, following their goals and their family’s goals- not the other way around. The directive of the model is to construct healthy foundations for greater social, emotional and intellectual capacities rather than focusing on isolated skills and behaviors.

Every person has unique strengths…

As part of our philosophy, we:

  • Recognize the client as an individual whose views and expectations must be taken into account when developing intervention

  • Embrace a strengths-based approach to treatment

  • Create an emotionally safe environment

  • Empower clients and family members to be the best informed advocates possible

Our History

In 1988, after having worked in pediatrics for years, Dr. Milagros Cordero, OTR/L, and Mr. Barry Landry, PT, joined forces to pioneer a unique service for children. Their vision was to develop a playful approach to treatment, following the child’s lead and welcoming parent, grandparent, sibling, and caregiver involvement. Out of this vision ITTS for Children was born.  Shortly after development, a parent-training component and sponsoring of professional training were added to address the emerging need for these services in the child rehabilitation community.

In 2014, Dr. Cordero was joined by her occupational therapist daughter Joann Fleckenstein, MS, OTR/L who encouraged the expansion of the pediatric program in order to continue to support adults and their families.

ITTS now offers services across all ages for individuals of all neurotypes and their families.
