In 1988, after having worked in pediatrics for years, Dr. Milagros J Cordero, OTR/L, BCP, and Mr. Barry Landry, PT, joined forces to develop a unique service for children. Their vision was to develop a playful approach to treatment, following the child’s lead and welcoming parent, grandparent, sibling, and caregiver involvement. A parent-training component and sponsoring of professional training were added to the many programs housed under ITT’s for Children.

In 2001, ITT’s for Children became a service of Cordero and Associates, Inc. The program continues to change, incorporating interventions as research expands the playful approach to intervention. The therapists at ITT’s of Children follow the theoretical background of the Sensory Integration Approach (SI), the Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-Based (DIR) model, and Floor Time strategies, all which are based on the understanding that each child and the circumstances that surround him or her are unique. In addition to SI, DIR, and Floor Time, services are provided in an “emotionally safe” environment at ITT’s for Children.
